Some evidence in industrial countries indicated that the amputations increase every year, because of peripheral blood vessel’s disease with or without diabetes. Since, amputation of the limbs (AL) has performed in the hospitals of Hamadan University of Medical Sciences (HUMS) at Hamadan City the frequencies and causes of this unwanted feebleness are unknown. The retrospective cross-sectional study was design to identify causes and frequencies of amputation of limbs attained in the two hospitals of HUMS during past decade. The medical history of 701 patients who experienced an amputation of limbs (AL) distinguished that the trauma was the main causes of AL that mostly produced by the industrial-mechanical instruments. The other risk factors for AL were vessels’ disease congenitally diseases, and infection. Although, the most of AL in the west countries were occurred for the patients with above fifty years old, about 50% of the AL patients in Hamadan were under 20 years old. In the other hand, our study indicated that diabetes was not notable risk factors (only 1.8%) for AL patients in Hamadan City comparing to the other countries (40%).
