The objective of this study was to demonstrate the effect of education of students on knowledge, practice attitude of their families regarding iodized salt. In this study the school were chosen by random sampling, and in every school a class was chosen by clustered sampling. At first the knowledge, attitude and practice of families about consumption of iodized salt was determined by using a questionnaire. The type of salt used by the families was tested by a qualitative rapid method then the families were educated by child to family procedure. In this step the students gained information by lectures as well as question and answer session and pamphlet were also given to them. Then they were instructed to teach their families what they had learned. After two month following the last session of education the level of knowledge, attitude and practice of families and the type of salt used were determined. The results showed significant improvement in knowledge of families (P=0.000), their practice (P=0.000) and their attitude (P=0.000) about consumption of iodized salt after educational programs for students and their families. Usage of iodized salt in families was increased from 647.5% to 92% (P=0.001). this study showed that the attitude of families improved regarding school health education program (P=0.000).
