     Background:  Cryotherapy   is   the   effective   treatment   which  uses  for         

   treatment of many benign and premalignant and malignant skin lesions.

     Objective: The   aim   of this   survey   was   the  evaluation     of   effect    of

   cryotherapy  on the benign skin diseases which cryotherapy  had   used  for 

   patients treatment in  the Department of dermatology Sina Hospital.

     Methods: This research was a  retrospective   cross - sectional   study    that         

   patients  information   got   out   of   patients   file   who   were   treated    by         

   cryotherapy in the Department of dermatology Sina Hospital between 1995         

   -1997. The collected information analyzed by software EPI6.

     Results: All of the treated skin diseases by cryotherapy in this center  were        

   benign. The most common was wart, and other  lesions   were   keloid, solar        

   lentigo and alopecia areata,  other skin  diseases  formed   few   percent of         

   patients. About 86% of patients remitted by   cryotherapy   which   the  most        

   remission percent related to wart.   We   did not   observe   any   permanent         

   complication but transient complications were formation of   bulla,   edema        

   and hyperpigmentation.

     Conclusion: This   study  showed  that  cryotherapy   is   effective   and safe         

   method of  therapy   for   many   of   skin  diseases  especially for wart, solar

   lentigo,  and  keloid.  For better  results  from  cryotherapy  we  must point to

   many  factors  such as period of cryotherapy , depth of lesions and location

   of lesion.
