In order to survey epidemiological characteristic of malaria in Hamadan province, a survey was made in malaria positive at the health services of provinces from 1980 to 1992.

More than 300000 cases were positive for malaria parasites. The maximum cases were seen in 1983 and minimum cases in 1982.

The most cases were imported from southern provinces and Afghanistan, provinces of disease were higher in 20-30 years age group.

The minimum age was an infant who was parasitized from blood transfusion the prevalent plasmodiom was by p.vivax followed by p.falciporum, on case of p.malaria was observed during this period. Male cases were more than females. 64% of the case were rural areas and 33% from urban region. 14.9% of case were from Afghanistan and 59.9% of the case were imported from southern provinces of Iran.

13(5.5%) cases were parasitized in Hamadan. In job groups, workers with 34.4% had the most cases.

In conclusion, although, malaria is not an important in the next year, because of drug resistance and possibility of transmission in this province.
