Abstract: (38 Views)
Background: Giant ovarian cyst adenocarcinoma is rarely described. Large ovarian masses are mostly benign; however, malignancy must be ruled out by clinical examination and evaluation. The occurrence of ovarian mucinous tumors has become rare in current medicine, as most cases are detected early during routine gynecological examinations or incidentally on pelvic and abdominal ultrasound imaging. The main objective of this report is to highlight large epithelial ovarian cysts with vague presentations and to outline the diagnostic and management challenges posed by these unexpected and unusual cases, aiding in their correct diagnosis and management.
Case presentation: A case of a large benign mucinous cyst adenoma weighing 10 kg in a 36-year-old woman is presented, which resulted in pressure symptoms and responded remarkably to surgical removal. The patient returned to her daily life after the operation.
Conclusion: Laparotomy was performed with the removal of the large ovarian tumor, followed by a complete hysterectomy. The final histopathology report was mucinous cyst adenoma of the ovary. The patient was discharged in good and stable condition. This report emphasizes the importance of a comprehensive workup for patients and of considering uncommon diagnoses.
